production log 10

This week was the final week where we work on the documentary that me and the person I worked with for more than a month, and now all we need to do is get our documentary checked by sir so he can see if we did or did not include everything that we needed for the documentary to be complete. Before we thought we would let sir check our documentary to see if it contained everything that sir wanted us to include, which was a lot of cut away shots in the interviews, remove our names in the intro, including different samples of music instead of one throughout the whole thing, shorten interviews so they do not last too long, and contain text in the interviews so that the audience knows the names of the interviewees.

When the both of us were checking if we actually included everything that sir told us to include in our documentary, after we checked we got one of the people in our group to get sir and ask him if he could be able to check our documentary and see if it contains all of the things that he wanted us to include. When we got sir to check our documentary he watched the whole documentary picking out bits of the documentary that he thought could be improved on but there were still parts of the documentary that he liked, which was good, but due to the fact that there were parts that still needed to be improved and we could not be able to change them in time we were not able to get a distinction for the documentary that we made, which was unfortunate, but we are glad that we managed to get a merit and not a pass.

Even though this is the last week it still had a lot of ups and downs due to we actually managed to finish our documentary before the deadline even though we thought we would not be able to finish it, but when we finished it, sir still thought there could be changes made that we could not make.

Final Documentary

production log 9

This week we planned to film all of the footage that included the interview with the professional and the interview with the obsessed individual that got over his obsession with cleaning. We plan on also filming some vox pops for our documentary.

When we started filming we went around and looked around for people to film for vox pops. A lot of people said yes but unfortunately when they saw the camera they said they did not want to do it anymore since they were not comfortable with being filmed. We went to Hyde Park since we knew that there would be a lot of people there on a sunny day, so we could get a lot of vox pops. When we went to Hyde Park we saw that it was the same  situation but luckily we managed to get four people that gave a lot of good answers that we could use for our documentary.

After we filmed the vox pops we thought that while it was still bright outside we could reshoot some scenes that we thought did not work because of the lighting, such as the conclusion and the intros to all of the interviews.

Since we got all of the footage for our documentary we needed to finish editing the whole documentary by the end of Wednesday. In the first lesson we imported all of the footage and started placing them on the timeline. We added a lot of music and graphics to make it look like a professional documentary.

During the end of the day we were still editing and were almost finished. We got sir to check our documentary to see if there were any changes that needed to be made, we saw that we needed to add and change atlas six things and we could still edit on Thursday.

On Thursday we managed to add all of the changes that we were told to make, and now we are finished with our documentary and are waiting for sir to look at the whole documentary next week to see if it reaches the standards.

production log 8

This week the group that I was working in managed to get all of the footage that we filmed on to the mac but unfortunately when sir checked our work and said that none of our work fits in with the criteria that we are following. Due to sir saying that our documentary does not fit in with the criteria we have to follow, we did not need to re shoot the whole thing and keep some parts but the person that I am working with said that we need to reshoot the whole documentary since he did not like how it turned out looking.

So after we were told that we needed to reshoot everything me and the person I am working with said we plan to film on Wednesday and we will film everything that is not the interviews, such as the introduction, intros to the interviews and the facts and statistics.  We could not film all week but Wednesday where we managed to film the intro including the presenter walking around and talking about the definition of what an obsession is.

We planned to film an interview with the new first obsessed individual which is an obsession over monster energy drink. But we thought it would be a better idea to interview him in a messy room with monster energy drink cans to really show his obsession is serious and would be better than just interviewing him outside. Due to the idea changing we can not film on Friday as we originally planned and film on Monday due to the obsessed individuals house not being available on Friday but is available on Monday. We plan on filming the vox pops and the interview with the professional on Saturday .

We managed to add a lot of graphics showing text of facts and statistics about obsessions to inform the audience about obsessions more, since that was all we could do since we had no new footage to edit.

A positive thing that happened this week would be being able to add the graphics to the documentary, since we did not originally plan to add it in and it made the documentary look better.

A negative thing that happened this week would be not being able to film the interview with the new first obsessed individual about his obsession with monster energy drink on Monday and interview the second obsessed individual who got over his obsession, and continue our editing.

Next week we plan on doing the interviews with the professional and the obsessed individual that is obsessed over cleaning, we also plan on filming more vox pops since the ones that we have filmed are not that useful.Next week is the deadline for when we need to finish editing our documentary, so hopefully we will finish the editing in time.

production log 7

This lesson we mainly focus on filming the intro and the second interview with the obsessed individual about his obsession with the rubix cube, and we also plan on doing some editing with the clips that we have already imported on to the mac.

When going to the media room to edit the documentary I noticed that the person I was working with was not in, which was unfortunate since he had all of the equipment, which meant he had the camera so we could not film the interview with the second obsessed individual about the rubix cube, and he had the memory card which meant we could not import any other clips.

When seeing that I did not have the memory card on me I did expect to still be able to edit what was already imported on to the mac, unfortunately that was not the case since when going on the mac to add on to the timeline full of clips that were already added. Unfortunately when going to the mac it turned out that I actually did need my memory card and when going onto the mac, looking at final cut pro, none of the work that we have previously started was saved on the mac, and I actually needed the  memory card.

When being told that it was impossible to add anything to the timeline I spent the whole lesson getting the images that would be used in the documentary and also getting all of the music that was going to be used in the documentary since I thought that I might as well do something in the lesson.

The only thing that we found difficult this lesson is that the person I was working with did not come in and I did not have the memory card so I could not edit anything.

The thing that was good about this lesson was that I managed to get all of the music and images that will be used in the documentary.

Next week we plan on continuing the editing and filming the second interview with the obsessed individual obsessed with a rubix cube.

production log 6

This week we mainly focus on editing all of the shots that we have filmed right now and possibly film our second interview with the second obsessed individual who is obsessed with a rubix cube.

When going to edit the documentary we noticed that the person that we had planned to do an interview with for the second interview with the obsessed individual about the rubix cube was not in so it would not be possible to interview him for the documentary, which was very unfortunate.

Apart from not being able to film the second interview for our documentary we managed to import all of the clips that we filmed of the first interview onto the mac. Importing the clips did not take too long which was continent since it meant that we could go right into editing the documentary. We added some music to make the interview a bit more interesting to watch for the audience, and we also added some pictures to add on to the interview which we thought would help the audience understand what the interviewee was talking about a bit more.

When adding clips to the timeline me and my partner had many suggestions on what we could add, but we were not sure if we could add every idea that we came up with since we thought that we would not be able to fit everything in the time we were told about how long the documentary was supposed to be, but when we found out that some groups went over twenty minutes we thought that we would still be able to include all of the ideas that we came up with, which was convenient.

This week the only thing that we found difficult was the fact that the person who was going to be in the second interview was not in, which was unfortunate. One advantage this week was that everything that was related to the editing went smoothly and there were no problems.

Next week we plan on filming the intro and the skit that we planned on filming, and we plan on doing some more editing on the mac's.

production log 5

this week we both have planned to be focusing on actually doing the filming for the doccumentary and going out to all of the different locations that we chose to film in. Since it is the first day of filming we decided to film only the shots with the first interview with one of  the obsessed individual that was obsessed with drawing.

When going to my house to film we managed to film 3 shots but then it turned out that the camera needed charging, so me and the person I was working with had to wait for a while till the camera was fully charged so we could finish filming the rest of the shots that we needed for our documentary.

It took almost 3 hours to finish but we finally managed to film all of the shots that we needed for the first interview of the documentary. When filming we managed to get a lot of good shots and a lot of good filler shots to use in the documentary, but we are not sure if we are going to use all of the filler shots that we filmed, since we filmed a lot of the shots that we needed, and we managed to film a lot of shots that we did not originally plan to shoot, but thought it would be a good idea to include while we were filming.

This week has a lot of advantages and disadvantages, such as I almost left the tripod in the maths room, luckily when we went to retrieve it the maths teacher was still in the room and kept it at his desk, so luckily we managed to be able  to film everything that we planned to film.

Next week we plan on editing what we have currently filmed and we plan on filming our next interview with a obsessed individual who is obsessed with a rubix cube.

production log 4

This week we mainly focused on getting all of the pre-production work done, which is finishing the emails which contacts some of the experts that we wanted to include in our documentary. We finished the crew list which said everybody that was going to be in the crew that  we are planning to work with when making the documentary. We finished the vox pop questions which included the questions about obsessions that we are planning to ask a few people on the street. We managed to finish the location recces which mentioned all of the locations that we are planning to use in our documentary. The budget  was finished, which included how much money we are planning on spending on the documentary, and what we are planning on spending money on. Finally we managed to finish the risk assessment, which stated some risks that might happen when we are making the documentary, and we finished the two production schedules for January and February, which said everything we are going to do for the documentary in those months and when we are planning to do them.

Me and my partner ended up splitting the work together, since now that my exams are over I have a lot of time to work on the pre production work. When splitting the work up I worked on the vox pop questions, the risk assessment and the crew list, where my partner did the location recces, the budget and the two production schedules.

There was only problem that we had to face week, which was dealing with what exact times we have to actually do the work since a lot of things came up, but we both managed to finish it all of the work before the deadline.

Next week we plan to actually start filming our documentary.

production log 3

This is the third production log where we are working on the pre production for the making of our short films. During this weekend, I have managed to finally have time to be able to finish the cast list that I needed to complete. The crew list basically states all of the people that we would work with when making the documentary. This would include the people who would be dealing with the camera operation, sound operation, directing, presenting and acting.

I am still getting in contact with my partner, making sure that if there are any changes that need to be made to all of the pre production work that we were given. Also, we were checking if our pieces of production paper work had reached all of the requirements needed, making sure the work is in good condition to go ahead with filming. I have written down that we would be using Hila Michelle as one of the obsessed individuals, but me and my partner are still unsure if she would be able to make it in time. If it ends up that she would not be able to turn up during filming time, we would possibly move the filming time to a date that she will be available.

The only thing that I would say has been a challenge this week was dealing with deadlines, and making sure everybody can make it when we are going to do the filming.

Next week I am planning to finish all of the production paperwork and then I can start actually filming the documentary.

production log 2

This is the second production log where we are going to work on the pre production of the making of our short film. This week our goal was that we needed to complete our final proposal as said by our teacher, it was a very simple task to do with my partner since we already knew what we needed to write. This was the week where we needed to start the major pre production paperwork, so the class sat down by our teacher in the middle of the room as she discussed all of the pre production tasks that we needed to complete by the beginning of next week.

When doing all of our work we divided the pieces of work between each other in our groups, due to the fact that I had exams to focus on I was given the crew list to deal with, where Faris dealt with all of the other pieces of work, due to this I stated that I would do most of the work when we are doing the filming.

Next week we are both planning to be able to finish all of the pieces of pre production work that we were assigned to complete. Since I have two exams until Tuesday I have asked my partner if he could do most of the pre production work, since I won’t have time since I would have to focus on my exams. We would have to look at the work together and see iif there are any changes that need to be made.

production log 1

This is the first production log where we start the work on making our documentaries. The goal that we have this week is to mainly focus on being able to finish the final proposal for the idea that me and my partner Faris have for the documentary that we are going to be making. When we are doing each piece of the work for the pre production, we have to show all of the work that we have done to the teachers to make sure if the work is either complete or there is still parts of the work that we need to change. When showing our work to miss there were three pieces of work that needed to have changes made but we managed to fix all of those changes.

There was a lot of paperwork that we still need to do this week, since it contained a lot of information that we needed to use for our short film. We did not seem to face any challenges this week since we have not yet started any filming and it was just doing paperwork, which was actually not a very hard task to complete, even though we thought that it would be very difficult.Next week we plan to complete our final proposal and check if our teacher agrees that it is either finished or if we still need to make changes.
