Secondary Research - Legal and Ethical Concerns

Constraint
Describe the details of constraint
Explain how the constraint will directly impact on your documentary
The main concern when filming in the public domain is that I will need to ask for permission when filming on someone’s property because I may not be allowed to film on their property.
This may impact our development of our documentary because people may want us to stop filming on their property
Clearances and Permissions

http://www.wkwsci.ntu.edu.sg
When filming outside in the public, there may be some areas where someone may need to ask for permission from the owners because we may not be able to film on their property.
When filming my documentary, we may film in certain areas of London that could be privately owned by other people and we will need to ask for permission from the owners to proceed filming.
If we would go into some ones online personal accounts and research their life to find information, it isn’t allowed at all. This is because, even if you are a good or bad person, interviewers aren’t allowed to go through people personal information without consent.
If we were look into some one’s personal life and their details of their obsessions without their consent, we would be violating this rule. When researching into someone’s obsessions, we will ask for permission in written form so there are repercussions later.
Libel an Defamation Law

https://en.wikipedia.org
This is where someone releases information about another individual which ruins their image. While committing this act isn’t a crime, It is looked down on in society because it could destroy someone’s reputation.
When looking into someone’s obsessions, we asked our interviewee’s if they could pick an obsession which would be suitable four our audience and not something too grotesque or lewd. This is because we don’t want to ruin their image and for them to face any backlash due to our actions.
BBC editorial guideline 1

http://www.bbc.co.uk/
The BBC editorial guidelines state that they put the audience first so therefore, BBC will have to put responsibility over freedom of expression. This means that the BBC have to respect the audiences privacy
When we are filming outside we will make sure to blur out any voices or any faces of people included in the documentary, that do not want to be in the documentary.
BBC editorial guideline 2

http://www.bbc.co.uk
This is when the BBC makes sure that they meet up to the potentials of the audience and makes content that is challenging and typical and reaches ethical standards
When we make our documentary, while editing it we will make sure that it reaches the standards the audience would want it to be so that they can enjoy it more. When making the documentary we will provide the information very clearly so that the audience will understand the topic better.
BBC editorial guideline 3

http://www.bbc.co.uk
This is when the content shown in the documentary should be gathered using only a first hand source and it should contain only primary research and not contain any secondary research. This will make the documentary contain information that the audience could not just simply find on the internet.
When making our documentary, we will be making it a performative documentary which is when the maker of the documentary has to collect the information and all of the content is primary research.
The first guideline is when the content placed in the documentary that may contain people that have mental or physical damage, and must be under the age of 18.
When making our documentary we will make sure that every one in the audience is under the age of 18, which means that we will have to think about what kind of things we can show in the documentary that will not leave an effect on an audience of that age.

The second guideline is to do with the radio and television side, where they protect some of the people they are in the documentary from the public so they wont get harmed.
When making our documentary we will make sure that the film makers do not harm anyone in public while going out getting the information, and we will make sure that no people that will be interviewed gets harmed in the documentary.

The third guideline, just like guideline 2 it is related to radio and television. It is when a documentary should not include information that makes individuals, religions, groups of people, etc in a negative way.
When making our documentary we will  make sure that we do not show any of the people that we are interviewing in a negative manor, as in we will not mock them on their obsessions and just learn facts about their obsessions.
